Verena Schmid Meyer was born on June 17, 1851 in Niederhasli, Canton Zurich, the daughter of Jakob Schmid and Elisabeth Mohr. She married Casper Meyer in Niederhasli on June 3, 1873. Her husband Casper emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1881 and Verena and her young children followed Casper to Cleveland in 1882 arriving on the ship "Labrador" from Le Havre, France. Verena died in childbirth with their tenth child who did not survive.

Note:Tombstone gives her name as "Friena" and the birth year is incorrect.
