Born on 26 March 1872, my Great- Grandmother Othilia, or Mathilda, as she preferred to be called, was the second of three children born to Peter J & Anna-Maria (Nahm) Missler. (Both her father & mother had children from previous marriages.) Her parents had both immigrated from Germany; her father from Beier, and her mother from Baden.

Born to a family of farmers she also married into one. On the 24th of May 1894, Tillie, who was 22 years old, married my great- grandfather, John Joseph Messner, who was 24. They were married in Millersville, Sandusky, Ohio.

Together they has 6 children, 5 boys & 1 girl:

Joseph Peter ~ 1895-1955
Aloysius "Ollie" Phillip ~ 1898-1961
Ernest Edward ~ 1901-1974
Clara Virginia (Van Sickle) ~ 1904-1990
John Robert ~ 1911-1992
Harold Anthony ~ 1915-1986

Great- grandmother "Tillie" died on 17 January 1947. She was 74 years old. She & her husband had enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Theirs was a strong & loving family.
