Bernice "Bea" Ptak 1917-2008 HOUSATONIC Bernice "Bea" Ptak, 90, of 25 Linda's Lane, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at home. Born June 15, 1917 in Housatonic, daughter of Frank S. and Dominica Poreda Boldyga, she attended local schools including the former Searles High School. Bea and her husband, Chester ("Chet"), were owners of the former Pleasant Street Market in Housatonic for over 50 years. She was a communicant of All Saints Church and was a member of its Rosary Soladity, and a C.C.D. teacher there. She was a member of the P.N.A. - Polish Falcons. Her husband, Chester ("Chet"), whom she married on November 14, 1936 in All Saints Church, died December 30, 1993. Bea leaves one son, Theodore C. and his wife, Jeanie, of Housatonic; one sister, Helen Zerbato, of Housatonic, who was her constant companion and caregiver for many years; four grandchildren, Andrea Ptak, Donna Hammer, Robin Kahler, and Craig Ptak; five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kyra Debkowski, Morgan and Brandon Hammer, and Georgia Kahler. Besides her husband, Bea was predeceased by one son, Richard; one brother, Joseph Boldyga; and three sisters, Stacia Rembisz, Alice Olender, and Stephanie Boldyga. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Bernice "Bea" Ptak who died June 12, will be held on Monday June 16 at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at All Saints Church, Housatonic, with the Reverend William P. Murphy, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Bea's memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the Birches-Roy Funeal Home, 33 South Street Great Barrington, MA 01230.
