• Altman-Oppenlander, 44, service Saturday
Nina E. Altman-Oppenlander, 44, Hillsboro, died Sept. 30, 2007. A celebration of life is scheduled at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in Shute Park under the covered pavilion area. Private interment will be held. Mrs. Altman-Oppenlander was born May 17, 1963, in Geneva, Ohio. She was raised and educated in Pennyslvania. She served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, where she met her first husband, Joseph. Following her discharge, the couple moved to Oregon and started a family. They later divorced. She married Kirk Oppenlander in 1994, and they lived in Hillsboro. They were married 13 years. Mrs. Altman-Oppenlander worked as a secretary for various businesses in the Portland area and most recently was a homemaker. She enjoyed arts and crafts, picking flowers and looking for rocks in the river. She was an avid swimmer, and received various awards at swim competitions. Survivors include her husband, Kirk Oppenlander; a daughter, Candice Altman; a son, Justin Altman; and two grandchildren, Isis Altman and Jaiden Raimondi. Remembrances to: a charity of your choice, in her memory. Arrangements: Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt, Forest Grove.

Edit: JoJo Skanes was Nina's great friend and she is the one that held her memorial in Shute Park in Hillsboro. Per JoJo, Nina is not buried in Corbett Cemetery but Nina was cremated and her ashes spread in the Redwood forest by her former husband, Kirk Oppenlander, in the spring of 2008. The marker is in memory of Nina.
