Funeral mass was held Monday, January 12, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Ashton for Maurice Klosterman, 85, who died Friday, January 9, at Hartley Community Memorial Health Center. Father Kevin Richter was celebrant.
Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Ashton with Walton-Roste Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


Maurice Klosterman was born July 27, 1918, on a farm near Cloverdale, the son of Ed and Anna (Spartz) Klosterman. He was raised on the family farm near Cloverdale and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Ashton. He farmed with his brother following the death of his father. He lived on the farm with his mother until they retired and she built a home in Ashton. He then lived in Ashton with his mother. He was in the dirt and gravel business for approximately eight years after moving into Ashton. He became a resident of Hartley Community Memorial Health Center April 4, 2002.
Survivors include two brothers: Otto Klosterman and his wife, Frances of Omaha, Nebr., and Earl Klosterman and his wife, Beverly and Ashton; one sister, Marian Richter of Sheldon; and two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Klosterman of Ashton and Shirley Klosterman of Sibley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Ervin, Donald and Walt Klosterman; one brother-in-law, Elmer Richter; and one sister-in-law, Delma Klosterman
