Lewis Waddle Sr., 102 years 8 months and 14 days of age, of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, November 7th, 1997 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.


Lewis was born in Popularville, Kentucky on Sunday, February 24th, 1895, son of the late Matt "M.A." and Amanda Rayborn Waddle.


Lewis was survived by four sons, Robert P. Waddle, Raymond "Ray" Waddle, Lewis Edward Waddle Jr., and John Fred "Jack" Waddle; two daughters, Mary Virginia Henry and Anne Killinger; two sisters, Ella Mae Baker and Betty Bradley; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt "M.A." Waddle and Amanda Waddle; his wife, Anna Prather Waddle; one brother, Fred Waddle; and three sisters, Ina Bolton, Margaret Edwards and Nancy Bishop.


He was a retired banker at First and Farmers bank in Somerset, Kentucky, a World War I Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post No#38 and a member of First Baptist Church.


Graveside services were held on Tuesday, November 11th, 1997 at the Somerset City Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky with Rev. John Killinger officiating.


The Somerset Undertaking Company was in charge of arrangements.
