Son of Henry & Frances (Andelt) Cerny.
Grew up on a farm near Dorchester.
Military: U.S. Army Sept. 25, 1953 - 1955; served after the Korean Conflict.
Lived in Lincoln; was employed by Lancaster County while attending Milford College; after graduation, taught at the University of Nebraska in Curtis, later became the department head in diesel mechanics; also farmed part timel after 33 years at the school, retired and moved to Kearney.
Activities: member of the Methodist Church, American Legion and the Eagles Club in North Platte; was active in many public school events in Kearney; enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren .
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Debra Maddox and her husband, Terrance, of Kearney; brother, Warren and his wife, JoAnn, of Pleasant Hill; sisters, Irene Eurich of Friend and Louise Anderson of Lincoln; grandchildren, Morgan Fisher, Danielle Fisher and Fae Maddox; and sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Dean and Wilma Cerny
Was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters .
