Willard May Jr., 87, of Washington died at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.

He was born July 8, 1920, to Willard and Wilma Lee Parks May Sr.

Surviving are one son, Richard (Jackie) May of Purcellville, Va.; three grandsons, Michael, Benjamin and Jeffrey May; one stepdaughter, Delores Rockey of Peoria, Ill.; one stepson, David Brusick of Bumpass, Va.; and dear friends, Al Haisch and Delores Wagstaff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Willard was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, serving actively for 12 years and 18 years as a reservist. He proudly served aboard the Coast Guard Cutters Northland and Comanche on the North Atlantic, then served on the LST 761 during the invasion of Iwo Jima, where he delivered troops and supplies.

He retired from Central Illinois Light Company after 30 years of service.

Willard was a member of the German-American Society, where he sang with the Harmonie Singers.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
