JACOB RING 1882- 1968
Jacob Ring Of Sterling Dies; Rites Saturday---Jacob Ring of Sterling resident, Jacob Ring, 85, of 532 State St., will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harold H. Kaestner will officiate. Mr. Ring died Thursday at the Rose Arbor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Ring was a retired machinist for the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked for Union Pacific in Sterling from 1914 until his retirement in 1942. Mr. Ring was born on Sept, 21, 1882 in (Dietel) Saratov, Russia. He moved to the United States in 1905, residing in Lincoln, Neb. He married Katherine Hettinger of Sterling on March 21, 1909, and they moved to Sterling in 1912. Mr. Ring was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two children, Mary Amen of Sterling; and Edward Ring of Sterling; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Ring, in 1963; two sons, and one daughter. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home is in charge.
