Mrs. Edwards was born to George Washington Patrick and Lula McMillan Patrick on July 3, 1911. She reared in Booneville, Mississippi.

Mrs. Edwards graduated from Booneville High School and earned the Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State College for Women. She completed graduate studies at Vanderbilt University. She taught for over 25 years and was an elementary school librarian.

She married William Jackson Edwards Jr on June 30, 1942. They are the parents of two children: Julia Caroline Edwards Brock and William Jackson Edwards III and two grandchildren: Brian Patrick Brock, Esq. and Patricia Susan Edwards.

Mrs. Edwards was active in civic and church endeavors in Cullman, Alabama. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the Women's Society of Christian Service (later United Methodist Women), Delta Kappa Gamma, and Entre Amies Study Club. She was also an active member of the Dripping Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Edwards was an avid reader and a life long learner. She was devoted to her family and her faith.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Dr. Bernard Patrick, Hugh Wilson Patrick, Roy McMillan Patrick, Julian Patrick. She is survived by her two sisters, Juanita Patrick Milton and Georgie Patrick Cunningham.
