John and Marie Bryngelson (later changed to Lund) came to the Township of Garfield, Jackson County, and Levis area in 1860.
Martin Lund was born on July 3, 1876. He attended the Levis School and the high school in Fairchild.
Martin and Paul Kay lived in a 9x12 foot sparsely heated shack. The husked corn by hand for the farmers to earn money to go to school Martin passed his teacher's examination at the age of seventeen. After teaching in the country schools for a few years, he and his brother, Alfred, operated a creamery near the Levis store.
On June 16, 1905 he married Amanda Westegard at her home. Amanda was one of Martin's students when he was the teacher at the Levis School.
Martin was a salesman for the DeLaval Cream Separator and Milking Machine Company. He traveled in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan.
He owned and operated a 400-acre farm, one and one fourth miles north of the Levis Store, and built a large eight-room home in 1922.
Amanda Westegard was born in Fairchild on January 9, 1887 and died on July 29, 1973.
