Laura M. Stangl, 92

Laura M. Stangl, a resident of Pierz, passed away to eternal life at the Pierz Villa in Pierz. Her husband Conrad and daughter-in-law Bernadette were by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Laura was born in Lastrup, May 23, 1917, to the late Alois and Priscilla (Kapsner) Langer. She married Conrad Stangl Sept. 25, 1939, and they enjoyed 69 years together farming in Pierz Township until they retired and moved to the city of Pierz. Laura and Conrad were honored with an Outstanding Community Service Award from the Catholic Aid Association's St. Joseph and St. Mary's Society Aug. 21, 1988. Laura enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, playing cards, gardening and cooking. She was active with the Pierz Nutrition Center. She was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Laura is survived by her husband Conrad Stangl of Pierz; daughters Marlene Nicholson and husband Ron of Mankato, Mary Ellen Wilde and husband Jim of Amboy; son Daniel Stangl and wife Bernadette of Pierz; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Reinhard Langer of Pierz, Wilfred Langer of Roseville, Regina Derfler of Pequot Lakes and Victor Langer and wife Doris of Pierz; sisters-in-law Irene Langer of Minneapolis and Regina Langer of Pierz.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alois and Priscilla; brothers Benjamin Langer, Tony Langer and Edward Langer; in-laws Emogene Langer, Bernadine Langer, Annella Langer and Harvey Derfler.
