Married Catharina Schoenborn on May 19, 1864, with whom he fathered Louis, John, Joseph, Catherine Reinhardt, Margareth, Christopher, Charles, Frank, George, Benedict and Rosa.
It is believed that they also were parents of August Mueth, 10/1865 - 2/14/1866 and Mary, said to have been born after August.
After Catharina died, John remarried, to Catherine Gerhard Endres, and raised her children; Frank, Ella and Fred Endres.
Was a farmer in Paderborn, IL until retirement in 1891, when he moved to St. Louis.
In 1892, served on Commission Business Employment, St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO.
Though he died in St. Louis, he was buried in Paderborn where many of his family are buried.
