LUEKE - Saturday 1:45 p.m. family prayer service and 2 p.m. funeral rites are scheduled at St. John Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, for Albert Lueke, 3203 13th Street. He died Wednesday evening in the Columbus Hospital at the age of 86.
Pastor L.E. Mortensen will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation continues at Gass-Haney Funeral Chapel until noon Saturday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m.
Mr. Lueke was born March 30, 1891 in Colfax County, son of William and Emma (Grotelueschen) Lueke. He attended Colfax rural and Schuyler schools.
On March 20, 1918 he married Minnie Schreiber at St. John Church, Shell Creek, where he was also baptized, confirmed and remained a lifelong member. The Luekes farmed in Colfax and Platte Counties until moving to Columbus in 1948. He was a taxicab driver for a time.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Viola) Leimser; three grandchildren, Mrs. Arlyn (Sharon) Johannes, Mrs. Merle (Joyce) Johannes, Ron Leimser; one great-grandchild, Jeff Johannes; one brother, Walter, all of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Gus (Minnie) Loseke of Columbus and Mrs. John Howe of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Emil, William and Gerhart; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Laura) Schindler.
The family suggests memorials to St. John Memorial Fund or the donor's choice.
