Funeral services for Lila Johnson of Parkers Prairie and formerly of Staples will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2008 at the New Life Church of God in Bertha with Reverend Dr. Randall Taber presiding. Friends may call at the Domian-Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 12:30 until the time of services. Lila passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie at the age of 87 years.
Pallbearers will be Steven Schmidt, Thomas Schmidt, Daniel Johnson, Ronald Hoyhtya, Mark Hoyhtya and Kevin Hoyhtya.
Interment will be in the Woodside Cemetery at Wrightstown.
Lila Evelyn Johnson was born on October 29, 1920 at Bowesmont, ND to Carl Gustav and Lena Dorothea (Koehler) Arndt. She finished country school at District #173. She was united in marriage with Stewart Raymond Johnson on June 17, 1939 by Pastor Watkins at Hewitt, MN.
Lila was loved by everyone who was lucky to know her. Family and friends were so much a part of her life. She loved entertaining company as well as cooking, gardening and making a beautiful home for her family. She will be dearly missed.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on July 29, 2001; her parents Carl Arndt, Lena Arndt-Johnson and step-father Floyd Watson Johnson; and son Dale Raymond Johnson on March 13, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Marie Schmidt of Montevideo, MN; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law Donna Lee Johnson of Grass Valley, CA; brothers Vernon (Rose) Arndt of Riverton, WY, and Ivan (Alice) Arndt of Blaine, MN; and sister Donna Mae Hoyhtya of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by her half-brothers Mike (Verla) Johnson of Richfield, MN, Pat (Jean) Johnson of Hewitt, MN and Watson (Donna) Johnson, Jr. of Blaine; and brother- and sisters-in-law Darlene Carlson of Brainerd, MN, Louise Johnson of Washington, DC and Wally (Ellen) Johnson of Detroit Lakes, MN.
