The sudden death of Erick Melin last Sunday about noon was a severe shock to his relatives and friends and a great surprise to all. About two weeks before he had the misfortune of breaking his leg but all indications pointed to a hasty recovery. He was feeling well until Sunday morning about the time his wife was preparing for Sunday school when he was taken with a sinking chill and died inside of two hours in the presence of his attending physician.
Mr. Melin died at the age of 36 years, 8 months and 19 days and besides his wife leaves three children, one son and two daughters. He came to this country in 1886 and was a brother of Andrew Melin and Mrs. Axel Carlson.
The funeral services were held at the Swedish Methodist church by the regular pastor on Wednesday at 1:30 p,m. and were largely attended, both brickyards closing for the occasion. The deceased was an honored citizen and held in high esteem not only by the laboring men but by all. Deep sympathy is extended to the bereaved family and friends.

Note: the Melin family has concluded that a probable cause of Erick's death was an embolism or blood clot, resulting from his broken leg.
