Born and came of age at Pavelstorp "Pavel's farm" near Katrineholm, Sweden. This was a tenant's farm and the property of Gimmersta Manor. The family narratives state that Ida made the journey to America accompanied by her brother, Eric, and entered at the Castle Garden immigration station on Manhattan, NYC.

MRS. IDA C. CARLSON, FORMER RESIDENT DIES
Funeral services were held here Wednesday at 2 o'clock in the Michigan Ave. Methodist Church for Mrs. Ida C. Carlson, age 78, who died Monday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Selin, 4891 North Paulina, Chicago. She had been ill since last April when she suffered a stroke.
The body was removed to Schiers funeral home in Chicago, and later brought to Pflughoeft's funeral home in Hobart until the services.
Mrs. Carlson, who was born in Sweden, came to Hobart in 1885, residing here for the past 62 years. Her husband, who died in 1913, was one of the founders of the Hobart brick yards. The deceased is also survived by another daughter, Mabel Carlson of Chicago, and one grandson, Carl Selin, also of Chicago.
Rev. H.L. Adams officiated at the services, with burial following in the Hobart cemetery.

Note: Ida shared a house with her daughter, Mabel, for many years. The address in Hobart was 247 Michigan Ave. They lived earlier on Hobart's Lake Street, and also in Gary IN.
