JOHN BALDAUF
A Highly Respected Citizen Passed Away.
WAS KICKED ON LEG BY COLT
About Four Months Ago, Which Finally Terminated in Death--Funeral Friday.

Death entered a Washington township home this morning at about 11 o'clock, and took therefrom a husband and father, John Baldauf. Deceased was one of the best known residents of Washington township, Van Wert county, and was loved and highly respected by all who knew him. His illness dates back to May 7, 1903, when he was kicked on the left leg by a colt. The bone in the leg between the knee and ankle was broken and the fracture seemed to heal nicely for a time and Mr. Baldauf was able to walk about quite freely. Some six or eight weeks ago the flesh on the leg where the bone was broken began to harden and caused much pain. The trouble then seemed to spread over his body and he suffered intense pain until death came at the hour stated above.
John Baldauf was born March 7, 1846, in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany, and died September 16, 1903, being 57 years, 6 months and 5 days old. He came to this country with his parents when but six years of age and settled at Evan, Lorain county, O. After living there fourteen years he came to Washington township, Van Wert county, where he resided continually up until the time of his death. Mr. Baldauf was married to Annie Maria Necoli, at Elyria, March 1, 1870, and to this union were born ten children, one of whom died in infancy. Those who survive are: Jacob, John A., Henry, Joseph, Frank, Wm., and George Baldauf, and Mrs. John Brickner and Miss Dora Baldauf. Mrs. Brickner resides in Seneca county, O., and the other children are at home with the exception of John, who is married and lives on a farm west of town. His wife also survives.
Deceased was a devote member of the Romas Catholic church and was a quiet and peaceable citizen. He was given the best of medical attention during his illness, but the trouble had early gained a foothold, and all efforts to save his life were of no avail.
The funeral will be held from St. John's church in Delphos Friday morning at 8:15 o'clock, and the remains will be interred in the East Side cemetery.
