The former Rita Draeger was born in Goodman, WI on March 27, 1919 the daughter of the late Leonard Draeger and Lillian (Dault) Draeger. Rita graduated from Baraga High School in 1936.
Rita Draeger married Ferdinand Wentela in Pelkie on August 24, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Rita was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse. She enjoyed baking, playing cards, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and was a Green Bay Packer fan. Rita adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rita Wentela is survived by her loving children, Lee F. Wentela of Mass City, Sheila (Bob) Blair of Lexington, KY, Judy Grawn of Menasha, WI, Lynn Forrest of L'Anse and Betty Eash of Denton, TX, 14 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Katherine Draeger of Morton, IL, Teresa Draeger of Carlton, WI., Elsie Wentela of Nisula, and Laina Makela of Williamsburg, NC. Numerous nieces and nephews also survived her.
She was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Patrick and Michael; great grandsons, Logan, Dylan, Daniel; son-in-law, Joseph Forrest; sisters, Naomi and Juanita; brothers, Sylvester Draeger, Bernard Draeger, Leonard Draeger, and Donald Draeger.
Mass of Christian burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L'Anse with Father George Maki, celebrant.
