Maren Andersen was born in Jutland, Denmark, December 26, 1866. Her parents were Mette Christine and Lars Christian Christensen. She died October 6, 1949, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, 10 days, at the home of her son, Lars.
At the age of 22 years she came to America and one year later was married to A. C. Andersen. To this union were born 11 children. Her husband and four children preceding her in death. He died Feb. 14, 1936.
Left to mourn her loss are four daughters, Hannah Jensen of Fresno, Calif., Christina Toft, Martha Dynnesen, Anne Faaborg, all of Sidney, and sons, Lars and Edward of Sidney, and Robert of Terry Montana. Twenty-six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Chris Olsen of Sidney, and one sister in Canada, and one sister and two brothers in Denmark.
The family lived in Sioux City, Iowa, for many years then moved to Irene, S. Dak., where they lived for two years. In 1910 they homesteaded in Brorson community, where they lived until Mr. Andersen's death.
She spent her last years with her son, Edward. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Denmark, to which she remained faithful to the end.
Services were held from Pella church Tuesday with Rev. Jensen officiating and burial was made in Brorson cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, Ed and Clifford Ericksen, William, George, Elmer an Einhardt Olsen.
