...Mary C. Leighty was born on February 2, 1860, at Attica, Indiana, and departed this life on July 25, 1940 at her home in Silver City, Iowa.
...there was little opportunity for a young girl to advance in education, and on Feb 22, 1877, at the age of 17, she became the bride of Mr. Samuel N. Mills. To this union were born 11 children (6 sons and 5 daughters).
...The family remained in Indiana until shortly after the turn of the century...[then] they moved to Kansas. After a stay there of a few years, the family moved again, this time to...Mills County, Iowa.
...On July 12, 1914, Samuel Mills passed on, and Mrs. Mills bravely took up the task of keeping the home together. She was for many years a practical nurse...
...8 children survive her...
