Minnie Mae Mills was the first child of Samuel Neville Mills and his wife Mary Caroline Leighty Mills. Minnie first came to Iowa in 1882 at age six, when her parents, along with her grand-parents, John Lucas Mills and Mildred Stephenson Mills, removed from the Fountain County, Indiana area to farm in Iowa. The family returned to Indiana about 1888, after the deaths of her grand-father,John Mills, and Uncle Daniel. Minnie never married, and remained in Indiana as a young adult when her parents returned to Iowa a second time before the Iowa 1905 Census. Sometime after 1950, Minnie removed to Mills County, Iowa, at the insistence of her many siblings.
