Lydia (Frank) Schmidt, 89, of Loveland, passed away on April 13, 2005, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
She was born May 11, 1915, in Loveland, to Henry and Mary Katherine Frank. She attended school in Loveland. On July 14, 1935, she married Henry E Schmidt at the home of his parents in Berthoud. They moved to the Denver area and remained there for eight years. In 1943 they moved to a farm in the Johnstown area.
Lydia enjoyed gardening, especially tending her rose garden. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed crafts, and loved to cook. Picnics in the mountains, both for breakfast and lunch, were a favorite activity with both family and friends. She was a member of the Sunnyside Neighbors Club, Little Thompson Grange and American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
She was confirmed in the First Congregational Church and remained a member for her entire life. Her activities included being a member of the choir (52 years), Faith Circle, and Paris and Spares. She donated her time for numerous harvest dinners and made noodles for many charity projects.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Henry, a daughter, Mary Ann Kalma of Cheyenne; a son, Lynn of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and a granddaughter, Kari Ann Morelli of Independence, Mo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Phillip Frank, and a sister, Mary Benner of Los Gatos, Calif.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2005, at the First Congregational Church, 800 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland.
Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.
