Mrs. John Gruenbacher, 75, of Fowler died Wednesday, September 13, 1967, at the Villa Maria Home in Mulvane, after a sudden illness. Mary Josephine was born September 10, 1892 at Aviston, Illinois. She and John Gruenbacher were united in marriage November 14, 1916 at Waterloo. Mr. Gruenbacher preceded her in death in 1964.
Mr. and Mrs. Gruenbacher moved to Fowler in 1920, then to Dodge City in 1952, and back to Fowler in 1961.
Josephine was a member of St. Anthony's Altar Society; a 25 year member of the Daughters of Isabella.
The survivors are; daughters, Mrs. Donna Hageman, Fowler, Mrs. Velma Jackson, Denver, Colorado; sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth Gerber, Dodge City, Mrs. Clara Thiessen, Kingman; brothers, George Huelskamp, Phoenix, Arizona; Martin Huelskamp, Hill City; Alvin Huelskamp, Spivey; and nine grandchildren.
The Rosary was held Friday at 8 p.m. at the Fidler Chapel, Meade.
The funeral Mass was held Saturday, September 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Mgsr. A. L. Meyers officiating. The pallbearers were; John Beckerman, John Heinz, Victor Hageman, Joe Merten, Leo Wenta and Lawrence Burns.
Burial was in the Fowler Cemetery with the Fidler Mortuary of Meade in charge of arrangements.
