Frank was the son of George Halbig and Barbara Hewer.

July 30, 1925 - Carroll Times - Mr Frank Halbig who passed away at his home early Tuesday morning was born on November 7, 1860, at Kirchschlitten, Oberfranken, Germany. After spending his early life at his native home, he at the age of 24 years sailed for America, coming almost immediately to the vicinity of Carroll, where for the past 41 years he has made his home.

On May 17, 1887, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Greif of Carroll, soon, after entering in business here which he continued for a number of years. For the past four years he has been in the employ of the Heider Manufacturing company here. Mr. Halbig had been in unusual good health until about the early part of May when the family noticed his failing health and although not having been well since that time, he had not been strictly confined to his bed until about a week ago when he became worse. Mr. Halbig had been a life time member of the Catholic church, receiving'the full rites before his death.

Besides his sorrowing wife he leaves eight children to mourn his loss, namely, Frank of Carroll; Tresa, Mrs. P.J. Byrne, of Atchison, Kan.; Anna, Mrs. Anna O'Brien of Norfolk, Neb.; Hilda, at home; John, of New York City; Agnes, Dorothy, and Rose, at home. Three children died in Infancy.

Besides the immediate family he also leaves one sister here, Mrs. Peter Schiltz of Carroll; one sister in Germany, and six grandchildren. The funeral was held this morning from the S.S. Peter and Paul church at a requiem high mass by Father Schenkelberg and burial made in the S.S. Peter and Paul cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by the many friends of Mr. Halbig who have held him in high esteem during his long time as a resident of Carroll.
