Funeral Services Conducted From S. S. Peter and Paul's Church Monday Morning

Frank X. Roth, a highly respected man of Carroll county and for the last 14 years a resident of this city, died at his home Saturday morning, February 13, at 1 o'clock after a three month illness.

For 44 years he lived in this county and became one of the prosperous and influential men of his vicinity.

Mr. Roth was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, May 20, 1858, and spent 30 years of his life following his occupation of farming.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the S. S. Peter and Paul church and was a devout Catholic.

Besides his widow he is survived by four children: Ben F. Roth, Geddes, S.D.; Peter L. Roth, Breda, Ia., Mrs. Joe Heithoff and Mrs. Albert Schoeppner, both of Templeton. Three of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Roth died in infancy. He is also survived by five sisters and one brother, and 20 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the S. S. Peter and Paul church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, of which church he was a member. Rev. Fr. Schenkelberg read the funeral mass and also spoke the prayers at the grave. The pallbearers were Barney Bolster, Fred Lappe, Frank Farrell, Clem Bergman, L. J. Meinhardt and Charles Wilberding.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Rev. John Achatz of Rockwell City; Ben F. Roth and daughter, Florence, of Geddes, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tieke of Dubuque; Sylvester Roth, Hartington, Neb., and Miss Kate Block, Ruthven, Ia.
