The daughter of William Thomas Fitzer and Lola Overstreet Fitzer and had lived her entire life in the Galena area.

She worked for King Louie as a seamstress.

She was a member of Riverton Baptist Church, Lostine Lassies, Galena Women's Club, Eastern Star, Home Extension Club, Senior Citizens Quilting Club and served on the Cherokee County Election Board.

She married Clyde R. Hayes on June 6, 1934, at Girard, Kan. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary at the Galena Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include four children, eight grandchildren, seventeen grreat-grandchildren, one brother & one sister.
