Funeral service for James Frederick Konermann, 66, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Harley Davidson, minister, Western Hills Church of Christ, officiating.

Mr. Konermann died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in Lawton.

Interment with Army honors will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 19, 1942, in Marietta, Ohio, to Joseph Henry and Mary Amelia Schultz Konermann. He moved to Evansville, Ind., where he grew up and graduated from high school. He joined the Army after his high school graduation and worked for Readiness Group, where he taught classes for the military. He married Alice Lucille Merkel on June 30, 1962, in Evansville. During his military career, he received National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, One Overseas Service Bar, Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award and Meritorious Service Medal. He retired from the Army in 1978. He then owned and operated Great Plains Hobby Shop until 1997. He was employed at K & S Electric since 1998 as an electrical technician.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Konermann, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jim and Kim Konermann, Cache and Chad and Ashley Konermann, Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law: Carrie and Jeff Markham, Lawton; seven grandchildren: Jimmy, Emily, Alden, Jake, Grace, Lilly and Lane; a brother, Joseph Konermann, West Virginia; and a host of friends and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia.
