Volunteered for service in the Mexican War, enlisting at Dover, Pope County, Arkansas about 1846. Fought in several battles. Honorably discharged at Carmago, Mexico on June 20, 1847. Returned to Dover, Arkansas, and lived 3 years before going to California about 1850 or 1851 for the Gold Rush. About 1896 he moved to Gold Hill, Jackson County, Oregon. In the 1900 census, he is listed as a widower. Nothing is known about his family he might have had in the northwest, according to living Texas relatives. With warm regards,
