She was born in South Dakota to Jacob D. and Elizabeth Lammle Heyd. Mrs. Gehring was raised in a German farming community in South Dakota.
On Oct. 29, 1925, she married Fred J. Gehring in McPherson County, In 1938, Mrs. Gehring, her husband and three children moved to Klamath County and lived here until 1953 when they moved to Eureka, Calif. Mr. Gehring preceded her in death in 1956.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church and was noted for her crocheted afghans and cooking.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lou and Cathy Gerhing, Klamath Falls; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice and Randel (CQ) Foster, Eureka, and Ruby and Tom Schubert, Klamath Falls; a sister, Magdalena Gugel, Aberdeen, SD, several grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.
An infant son, Oscar Gehring, preceded her in death in 1927.
