He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII.
On April 11, 1942, he was united in marriage with Loraine Laubenstein at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fredonia. She preceded him in death in 1985. On October 19, 1988, he was united in marriage with Sylvia (nee Arndt) Yoho.
Claytus is survived by his wife, Sylvia; and five children, David (Maria), Paul (Lynn), Robert, Sandra Ziehr, and Linda (the late Randy) Peiffer. He is further survived by nine step-children,31 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren.Claytus is preceded in death by his first wife Loraine, one daughter, Marcia.
Claytus will be laid to rest next to his first wife Loraine at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Fredonia with military honors.
