Carrol Times Herald - Monday , December 3rd, 1945 - Arcadia Mrs. Elizabeth Hoelscher, widow of Anton Hoelscher, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony hospital in Carroll, where she had been a patient 12 days. Mrs. Hoelscher, who was 83 years old, had been ill about two weeks.
Funeral services are to be at 9:30 Wednesday morning at St. John's church here and burial will be in the family lot in the parish cemetery. The pastor, the Rev. Father M. Stork, will officiate. The body is being returned at 5:30 this afternoon from the Olerich Funeral home in Carroll to the family home two miles south of Arcadia, to rest there until the hour of the rites. The rosary will be prayed at the family residence at 8 o'clock tonight and also Tuesday evening .
Mrs. Hoelscher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Kohorst , was born Jan 4, 1862 in Germany. Emigrating to the US at the age of 19 she located in Cincinnati, Ohio where she lived for two years before coming to Arcadia. Her marriage to Mr. Hoelscher
took place May 19, 1885, in St. John's church here. Since her marriage, Mrs. Hoelscher had lived in the same neighborhood south and east of Arcadia.
Her husband died July 2, 1919. Her sons, Frank and Henry, resided with her on the old homestead.
Besides her sons Frank and Henry, she leaves another son, Clem Hoelscher of Carroll; two daughters, Mrs. John Olberding (Mary) of Carroll, and Mrs. Joe Dentlinger (Anna), of Arcadia; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry Kohorst of Arcadia and Clem Kohorst of Corfu, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by a son Joe, who died Oct 13, 1945, and 2 daughters: Magdalena, who died at the age of 7, and Josephine age 3 years. Mrs. Hoelscher was a member of St. John's church and the Christian Mother's sodality of the parish.
