A Walker man, Vincent Riedel, died at a Russell nursing home at the age of 81 following a long illness.

Born in Victoria June 6, 1883 he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1939 after serving 33 years. He returned to Walker after retiring.

Military funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Church, Walker, with burial in the church cemetery. The VFW will conduct a prayer hour at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Friends may call at Cline's until service time.

Survivors include a brother, Mike, Whittier, Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Copp, Gorham, Mrs. Mary Nieberger, Salina, Mrs. Christine Brown, Denver, Mrs. Julia Hanson, Junction City, Mrs. Malthilta Erbert, California.
