El Paso - Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Ball had announced Friday the marriage of their daughter, Barbara, to Corp. John Volk, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Volk of El Paso at Reno, Nev., Aug. 3. They will live in San Francisco where he is stationed at a camp. They graduated from El Paso Township high school in 1937 and the groom was employed as a gas station attendant until his induction in the army. The bride was employed at the telephone office here.
EL PASO, IL - Barbara R. Volk, 84, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday July 13, 2004, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 15, 1919, in Toluca to Vivian and Rose Zima Ball, she married John Volk on Aug. 3, 1942, in Reno, Nev. He died Sept. 20, 1986.
She also was preceded in death by one brother.
Surviving are one son, Gary (Sue) of East Peoria; one daughter, Kathy (Dick) Brush of Pekin; two brothers, Jack (Mary) Ball of Pontiac and Roger (Carol) Ball of El Paso; one sister, Maureen Mayne of Wilmington; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She had worked at the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Children's Home in Normal.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in El Paso and El Paso Golf Club.
Burial will be in El Paso Township Cemetery.
