Virginia Katherine Elder, age 88, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009. Virginia was born December 18, 1920 in Topeka to George and Katherine (Bohn) Degenhardt, Sr.

While she lived the majority of her life in Topeka, Virginia also lived in Texas and Illinois. She was a graduate of Topeka High School and Strickler Business College.

Virginias home and family were the focus of her life.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Elder, her two children, Linda K Jones and Dennis J (Ann) Elder, 2 granddaughters, Sheri (Jake) McKinley and Holly Elder, and a great-granddaughter, Kaylyn Elder, all of Topeka.

Virginia is preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Jean Zinn and her brother, George Degenhardt, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20th, 10:00-11:00 am, at Highland Park United Methodist Church, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Rev. Lynn Lamberty will officiate.

Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave, Topeka, KS 66605.
