Kaye Ernest Don, racing driver. He lost his father at an early age. He was an RFC pilot in the First World War. He lived in Kingston Upon Thames in the early twenties and it was there that he worked with racing engineer Charles Cooper, who he had met before the war, while both were involved with competition motorcycles. He raced both large and small cars at Brooklands and won the 1928 Ulster TT, driving a Lea-Francis. He was less successful with the M.G. Magnette which he used in 1933 and 1934 on the Isle Of Man. While working with one of these he was involved in an incident that led to the death of M.G. employee Francis Tayler. Convicted of manslaughter, Don spent four months in prison on the island. He held several world speed records on water. Married twice, he founded the Ambassador Motorcycle Company and died at Chobham, Surrey.
