Mikeal Kaiser was born in Arbach, Germany, Oct. 23, 1855, and came to this country with his parents when he was 17 years old. They settled in Taopi, Minn., in 1882. He was married to Barbara Gerber and in 1883 they cam to South Dakota and filed a homestead 2 ½ miles north of Hoven where they have lived up to the time of his death.
Mr. Kaiser had been in failing health for some time and passed away at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday, Aug. 4. Funeral serviced were conducted from St. Anthony's church Saturday with a Requiem Mass with Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. C. Helmbrecht officiating.
He leaves to morn his wife, six sons, and seven daughters, Ben J. Kaiser, Mrs. Joe Herman Sr., Mrs. Eva Seurer, Peter J. Kaiser, Matt J. Kaiser, Mrs. Joseph Hartung, Joe J. Kaiser, Mrs. Math Schaefer, Mrs. John J. Rausch, Mrs. Hubert Schaefer, Emma (Sister Bernadette), John and Mike J., all of whom were present at the funeral except Mike J. of Eagle Point, Ore. He also leaves 70 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Honorable pallbearers were M. J. Kaiser, Henry Hericks, John Schulte, Math Mertes, Edward Simon, John Dries. Active pallbearers were Joe Herman, Jr., Ben Seurer, Morris Schaefer, Anthony Schaefer, Joseph Reusch, Herbert Kaiser. Cross Bearer, Albin Schaefer.
Mikeal Kaiser was a faithful member of St. Joseph Society and the members attended the funeral in a body.
