Margaret M. Dalinghaus, 89, of Baileyville, Kansas died late Sunday, November 19, 2000, at Crestview Manor in Seneca where she had been a resident for about a year. Previously she had been a resident of Eastridge Care Home in Centralia, Kansas, for about two years.
She was born March 6, 1911, on a farm north of Seneca, the daughter of Clemens and Catharine McIntyre Sudbeck. The first school Margaret attended was Rock School a mile from her home. She graduated from St. Mary's School at St. Benedict, and also attended Sts. Peter & Paul School in Seneca. She loved farming and helped her father farm with horses.
On October 21, 1931, she married Lawrence A. Dalinghaus at St. Mary's Church at St. Benedict. They lived and farmed one and a half miles south of Baileyville. In 1981 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Her husband, Lawrence, died June 18, 1984.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville and the altar society at the church. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church at St. Benedict.
Survivors are three sons, Donald Dalinghaus and Bill Dalinghaus, both of Seneca, and Roy Dalinghaus of Baileyville; a daughter, Virginia Winkler of Centralia, KS; a sister Emily Holthaus of Seneca; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clem C. Sudbeck, Ignatius Sudbeck, and a sister, Elizabeth Haverkamp.
The mass of Christian burial will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 22, at Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville, KS. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
