PETE GERK

Peter John GERK, 78, was born April 22, 1912 in Merino, the fourth of 12 children of Catherine (Dittler) GERK and Pete GERK, Sr.

Pete died January 28, 1991 at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke, after a long illness.

Services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Holyoke January 31, with Father Joe Hartman of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Julesburg officiating.

He married Lena C. Shank January 16, 1934 in Julesburg, at St. Anthony's. Peter farmed many years in the Sedgwick and Julesburg area. He retired from farming in 1964 and lived in Loveland for eight years and moved to Holyoke in 1973.

He is survived by his wife Lena of Holyoke; three sons, Raymond and wife Diana of Holyoke, Robert and wife Elaine of Holyoke and James and wife Carolyn of Julesburg; two daughters, Mrs. Delvin (Delores) Schulz of Soper, Oklahoma, and Mrs. John (Judy) Grahl of Pocatello, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Isidore, Alex and Wes of Julesburg; and three sisters, Mrs. Joe (Katie) Stremel of Denver, Mrs. Chuck (Beatrice) Sapp of Greeley and Mrs. Frank (Rose) Byers of Arlington Heights, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and sisters.
