New Holstein—Claus Stueven, 90, died at 6 a.m. today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edward Domke, near New Holstein, after having been confined to his bed for five weeks. The funeral will be held Thursday at the Domke residence. Rev. E. Worthmann of Kiel will officiate and interment will be in the City cemetery. (Eaton)
Mr. Stueven was born in Holstein, Germany on March 16, 1841. His marriage with Christina Trempopt (sic) took place in Germany in 1866. The couple came to America in 1876, locating near New Holstein. They lived on a farm and in 1902 moved to New Holstein, where they resided on State Street for fourteen years. Mrs. Stueven preceded her husband in death on October 19, 1916. After that Mr. Stueven lived with a daughter, Mrs. August Feldt at Glenbeulah. Later he came to New Holstein to reside with another daughter, Mrs. Edward Domke.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Domke, New Holstein; Mrs. August Feldt, Glenbeulah; Mrs. Fred Rosenbauer, Kiel and Mrs. Louis Matter of Milwaukee; two sons, Herman, town Schleswig and Henry of Kiel; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and by one sister, Mrs. Anna Krohn of Dodge Center, Minnesota.
