Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude "Gertie" Catherine Rohmer Voth, age 102 of Muenster, was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with Fr. ken Robinson officiating, assisted by Fr. Kyle Walterscheid. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Rosary and Vigil was held at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 3 at the church. Mrs. Voth died Friday, April 1, 2016.
Gertie was born February 22, 1914 to Leo and Anna Rohmer, She attended Sacred Heart School until the 7th grade, then helped her family on the farm. She was always proud that she could pick cotton faster than her brothers! She married the love of her life, Ben Voth, on August 21, 1934. Ben and Gertie worked side by side gardening and farming for 72 years until his death, December 14, 2006. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish all her life and a member of Saint Anne's Society. Gertie was a hard worker and loved to garden, crochet, quilt, and bake.
Gertie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ruth and Tommy Knabe of Muenster; grandchildren Joe and wife Kristie Koesler, Sue and Husband James Yosten, Mary Lin and husband Duane Knabe, Kathy and husband Kevin Creed, Steven and wife Katrina Knabe; 17 great-grandchildren. and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Other family members include Mary Ann Koesler, Carol Lin and Gene Luttmer and family, and max and Cindy Koesler and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ben; daughter Carol Ann Voth Koesler; son-in-law Alfons Koesler, sisters Mary Rohmer, Bertha Wooten, Eleanor Sicking, Rita Becker, Martha McKinney, Agnes McCallion, and Adeline Pettit; brothers Albert, Ed, Alois, Arnold, Urban, and Norbert Rohmer; and a granddaughter Barbara Koesler.
Asssisting during the funeral mass were altar servers Collin Knabe, Jackson Knabe and Leah Knabe. The first reading was given by Amanda Knabe. Lauren Creed Taylor gave the second reading. Prayers of the faithful were bead by Steven Pettit. Ben and Charlie Koesler and Debra Felderhoff brought up the Offertory Gifts. Eucharistic ministers were Werner Becker, Jr., Mitch Creed, Viola Rohmer, and Janie Thurman.
Music ministers were Linda FLusche, Doug Yosten, Diane Grewing, Jim Endres, and Christi Klement. Songs included "Be not Afraid", "Psalm of the Good Shepherd", "Only in God", "How Beautiful", "Edelweiss Blessing", :Song of the Angels", and "And I will Follow".
Pallbearers were Joe Koesler, Steven Knabe, Mitch Creed, Kristopher Creed, Nicholas Yosten and Jonathan Yosten.
Teh family requests memorials be made to the Sacred Heart Trust Fund.
