MARYSVILLE -- Robert E. Lueers, 84, Marysville, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Lueers owned and operated Lueers Liquor Store. He farmed until 1957 and then worked two years with the First Kansas Life Insurance Co. He worked for the Federal Crop Insurance Co. from 1978 to 1990. He served in the infantry during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations, from 1942 to 1945.

He was born Jan. 27, 1915, at Wayne, Neb., the son of John and Aurelia Lueers. He moved to Kansas in 1917. He graduated from Marysville High School, and he had lived in Marysville since 1957.

Mr. Lueers was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Marysville Blue Lodge, Arab Shrine Temple of Topeka, Moose Lodge and the Marysville Country Club. He also was an avid golfer and recorded four witnessed holes in one.

He married Bernice Yaussi on March 26, 1945. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Siegfreid, Olathe, and Marsha Grisell, Garden City; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marysville.

Burial will be at the Marysville City Cemetery.

Mr. Lueers will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asthma Foundation and sent in care of the mortuary.
