Carolina Raquet
It has pleased the Almighty God in His wise providence to call him from long sufferings Mrs. Carolina Raquet, (nee) Wolfer, departing in peacelast Sat night Oct 14, 1911. She was born April 24, 1836 in Marietta, Lancaster, Pa, she was baptized and obtained her education inthe Lutheran church. After being duly instructed and examined in the Christian doctrine she made her confession of faith, and according to the usage of the Luteran church was confirmed and admitted as amember of said church.
Early in life, she came to Indiana and found a home withthe early settlers. On July 12, 1855, she was married to Frederick Raquet, with whom she lived until his death Oct 18, 1873. To them were born nine children, all of them were boys. Thre of them, Herman, Henry, and Frank died while quite young. Six still survive their mother, namely Louis, Philp, John, Jacob, Joseph and George.
Twenty two grand children and three grat grandchildren have been added to the family record. One sister, Mrs.Mary King is only member of her father's family who remains to mourn her loss.
Her death marks the passing of another one of the pioneer mothers of Hamilton county, and is a sad event to the few reamining associates of her early days and to the many friends of her declining years.
The deceased has been a member of the Lutheran church of Arcadia from early youth. Owing to her sickness of late, she was not able to attend divine worship. But with charity for all and malice toward none, we command her to
christ, the Savior, who alone is able to judge the quick and the dead.
Mrs. Caroline Raquet made her home with Mr Aaron Startzman and family, who faithfully nursed her until her death. Surrounded by nearly all her children, she quietly passed away last Saturday, her age being seventy five eyars, five months and twenty days.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Luteran church in Arcadia. Rev. G.A. Schimmel delivered the funeral oration based on Rom. 8:18 A large audience had gahtered ath the church t pay their last repsect to the deceased.
Pall bearers were six of her grandsons: Edward, Charles, Harvey Bernie, Everett, and Frank Raquet.
In conclusion let us say" Lord God Thou hast made all well, comfort now the afflicted.:
