Albert Nab, 82, formerly of Sterling, died Oct. 18, 2004, at his home in Bennett. He was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Sterling, to Jacob and Opal Nab.
He was married to Mary Rohleder on October 9, 1944, in Sterling, and they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Nab was drafted into the Army in January 1945 and was honorably discharged in February 1946. He worked as a mechanic for 10 years at Brush Motor Sales in Brush, then worked for the State Highway department for another 10 years. After moving his family to California for a year, they then moved to Fort Morgan, where he worked for 12 years for Morgan County as a truck driver and shop maintenance man until his retirement. Due to failing health, the Nabs moved to Bennett in April 1999 to be closer to family and the VA Hospital in Denver.
His is survived by wife Mary; daughters Mary Ann Singhisen, Woodward, Okla.; Theresa Middlemist, Byers, and Brenda Yancey, Madrid, Neb.; sons Jim Nab, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Rick Nab, Fort Morgan, and Dan Nab, Aurora; brother Joe Nab, Ashland, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. His Chihuahua, Tiny, also survives him.
He was preceded in death by one brother; five sisters; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial services are being held in Aurora at Olinger Aurora Chase Chapel, with cremation and private internment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VA Hospital, 1055 Clermont Street, Denver, CO 80220.
