Dies at Her Home After 25 years of Suffering.
CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND -- Mrs. Elizabeth Metzner, aged 71 died this morning at 3:30 o'clock at her home on North Centre Street.
She was born at Nekderjlein, Germany, January 6, 1841, and was the daughter of the late George Becker, and widow of the late Adam Metzner. She came to America at the age of 14 and lived in Cumberland ever since.
She is survived by the folliwing children: Mr. George Metzner and Miss May Metzner, of this city , and Mr. Joseph Metzner of Roanoke, Va. ; and also by the folling brothers and sisters: Louis and Edward Becker, Mrs. Christopher Kelley, Mrs ?? Schelbeus, Mrs. Joseph Decker and Sister M. Gruntiam of a convent on Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the late Geo. Decker was also a brother.
For Twenty five yeras the deceased had been a helpless invalid but with all her suffering she preserved as many kispostion never complaining and always ready with a kindly ecperstion or cheery work. She was a devort christian woman and embraced her affication as a gift from God.
Funeral services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church and interment will be made in the church cemetery but the time of the funeral will not be set until the arrival of her son from Roanoke.
