OBITUARY
EMMETT -- Clara Alice Kennedy, 90, of Emmett, died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at St. Marys community hospital in St. Marys.
She was born Aug. 14, 1914, on a farm near St. Marys, to Joseph E. and Alice Hale Aubert. She had lived in the Emmett communty for many years.
She grew up in the St. Marys community and graduated from Immaculate Conception high school Academy in 1932. She had worked at the Eshbach Grocery store in Emmett for more than 10 years. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the Altar Society at the Church. She had been a member of the Jolly Workers Club in Emmett since the 1940s. She was a member of TOPS since 1985. She was a liason for the Area Agency on Aging for the Emmett communty and Pottawatomie county. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Perpetual Adoration Chapel in St. Marys. She was a special aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a Godmother to 12.
She married Leo Francis "Dutch" Kennedy on May 15, 1925, at St. Marys. He precedes her in death.
She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Aubert and Clyde J. Aubert, who died in World War II, and two sisters, Mildred Mulford and Theresa Kulchawick. Survivors include a brother, James Aubert, St. Marys; a sister, Anna Verschelden, St. Marys; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Immaculate Conception Catholic church in St. Marys. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery St. Marys. She will lie in state after 4:00 p.m today at Immaculated Conception catholic church, where there will be a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross catholic church and sent in care of Piper funeral home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, Kan. 66536.
