Rita Wietharn, 91, died April 28, 2009. She was born June 7, 1917 in Axtell, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Fangman Kohake. She graduated from Baileyville High School and went on to attend Mount St. Scholastica College.

She and Vincent F. Wietharn were united in marriage on April 28, 1938 in Baileyville, Kansas. Mr. Wietharn preceded her in death on April 17, 1989.

Mrs. Wietharn was a homemaker. She moved to Atchison 16 years ago. She enjoyed spending time sewing, crocheting, and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Benedict's Church, Atchison. Rita formerly served as the organist for St. Leo's Church, Horton, and St. Joseph's Church, Everest.

Rita is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Keimig, Atchison, KS, Rita Boos, Denton, KS, two sons, Jim Wietharn, Atchison, KS, Gerald Wietharn, Topeka, KS, two sisters, Helene Dalinghaus, Seneca, KS, Mary Faith Dalinghaus, Seneca, KS, a brother, Giles Kohake, Seneca, KS, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a grandson Brian Boos.

Services will be at St. Benedict's Church with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Leo's Cemetery, Horton, Kansas.
