Accidently killed by a 200 pound rock during a blast at a rock quarry near Allentown.Sources: "The Reading Eagle Nov. 1, 1887

Eck, George- In Allentown, on the 1st inst.,
George Eck aged 71 years, 3 months and 14 days.
The relatives and friends of the family are repectfully
invited to attend his funeral from the residence
of his daughter, Mrs. H.H. DeLong, 418 North 9th
street, on saturday morning. Funeral to leave outer
P. & P. depot with the 8'o'clock train for Churchville.
where service and interment will be made.
Dearest father thou hast left us,
We they loss most deeply feel:
But 'tis God who hast bereft us,
And He can all our sorrows heal.
O silent grave to thee we trust,
This precious part of earthy dust;
Guard it safe, O sacred tomb,
Untill we, his children, ask for room. 32
