Arthur W. Hermann, 84, of Sheboygan, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on Thursday, April 30, 2009.
Art was born January 25, 1925 in Sheboygan to Christian and Sophia (Fellinger) Hermann.
In 1943 he entered military service and was stationed in Australia and New Guinea during WW II. He served with the 8th Army Combat Engineers attached to the 1st Cavalry Division. The unit saw action in the Admiralty Islands landings on Leyte Island, Luzan Island and the capture of Manila. He then ended his military duty as part of the occupation troops in Japan until his honorable discharge in 1946.
On September 18, 1948 Art was united in marriage to Esther Achilles of Sheboygan. Esther preceded him in death on July 13, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Thomas J. and Jennifer Hermann of Egg Harbor; a daughter, Diane Hermann-Kuether of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Travis Kuether, Ryan (Tanya) Kuether and Krista (Rob) Jones; four great-grandchildren, Devon and Derrick Kuether, Lily and Drake Kuether.
In addition to his wife, Art was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Burial in Lutheran Cemetery.
