She was born on June 2, 1921, in Springfield, the daughter of Loreto and Josephine Baliva Viele. She married John H. Nierhoff in St. Louis, MO. on Jan 31, 1942; and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1982.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Victor, Nino, Fred, Ercole "Bowser," and Herman; and two sisters, Italia Ridolfi and Jeanie Vielo.
She was employed as an Accountant at Sangamo Electric and she retired from the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Springfield and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by two sons, John "Jack" (wife, Mary Lou) Nierhoff Jr. of Bloomington, IL and Ronald "Jay" Nierhoff of Springfield; and one daughter, Jo Lynn (husband, Gene) Adams of Springfield; Two sisters, Dorothy Moreth of Alta Loma, CA and Velma (husband, Wayne) Mayes of Springfield; and one brother, Thomas Viele of Springfield. There are 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home, 505 East Allen. The family will meet friends from 10:30 until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton. The Reverend Father Richard Chiola and Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will follow the service at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
